RE: Noise Harvester is a very quirky product says the "expert"

The Noise Harvester looks at a center point frequency of about 10kHz, and the Noise Sniffer looks at byproducts on the line well over 100kHz. The PurePower piece is a PwM based double conversion UPS (as opposed to analog). This is basically a big class D amplifier that's powering the output. My guess is the Noise Harvester is picking up switching noise from the PurePower device. The Harvester sees that because the switching noise is lower in frequency and the class D amp's output filter isn't eliminating all the switching noise. A Noise Sniffer wouldn't see the noise because it looks at much higher frequencies - which the UPS output filter eliminates.

One of the downsides to the PurePower piece is that it isn't a pure analog amplifier, rather it's a Class D amp with all the problems of a class D.

Hope that clears up the mystery for you.
