The AA rule you are referring to (not the one you made up) allows manufacturers to respond to questions about their products. The problem is you were responding to the OP by Winston out of the blue - as if you were just another satisfied customer of MSA. You had not disclosed that you were a DEALER for MSA. This is called a CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Hel-loo! By pumping up the product in your rave review you were obviously helping (your) sales, at least potentially. It's not whether or not you actually receive sales. Duh! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. It's one thing to help out a "struggling small company" but it's quite another thing to pretend to help them but help yourself instead. Now do you get it?
The AA rules you stated are not real AA rules, by the way, you made them up to try to weasel out of your predicament. The real applicable AA rule (not the one you made up) is:

"A member of the trade may not volunteer any information about a specific product that he is selling or making, in response to a general request for information about a type of product or in any other discussion."
