In looking over the original post, Monster DOES have quite a bit in common with other cable sellers.
They DON'T make there own wire. The probably own NO manufacturing at all. The entire company is an office somewhere. The may have design and prototyping people. I'll bet that Monster is spec built by some factory on the other side of the planet, marked up substantially and sold thru mass market retailers.
At least BJC is honest with named wire/cable and do the fabrication mostly in-house. I bought one of the asian made HDMI thru 'em and it is perfect for TV.
Anyone could be a cable maker. Be it small, garage based or ordering by the the mile from a bigtime factory, just slap your name on it and ship.
Short runs of custom wire are probably REAL expensive. Thus the 1200$ I/Cs.
