The formula is the same:

Joules = 1/2C(E*E) for capacitance and 1/2L(E*E) for inductance. Inductors store energy but the voltage and current phase relationship is opposite compared to capacitors. I thinks this means that the energy storage is not additive or subtractive, it is shared. In a resonant circuit the energy is passed back and forth between the two. Only parasitic losses or intentional loading remove the energy and dampen the oscillation.
