For personal reasons, my initial objective was to learn about audiophiles in order to understand people gripped by alternative medicine which has a similar belief system and industrial support. Because of my job and training I know what is going on technically with the former but with the latter I could not confidently separate the small amount of fact from the large amount of fiction. Later I found the audiophile phenomenon interesting in its own right both as a puzzle and as an aid to understanding how and why society is increasingly evolving away from something that served my interests well.
After steady progress, since the last significant chunk of insight I have not been learning much and, indeed, I have several times playfully wound up several of the more robust "subjectivists" without a real intention to prod for information. But when does playful become teasing and then bullying?
