FYI info, I'm patent examiner and what I searched was our own patent database in fulltext mode.

If that guy discovered that effect whilst doing his MRI job, he was using standard commercialized QD, unless he's working in a test lab.

If Nb is standard ingredient in such commercialized QD, then a fulltext search in patent literature will find it. If Nb is advanced QD matter, then a search in INSPEC will find it, in any case, there's a trace somewhere.

Evident does not mention Nb on their site. I did not yet search the patent docs relating to QD-tags, will do that next week.

It would also be interesting to learn what effect of a known QD made this someone think that it could be used in audio, what did it do to what object and what made him think that it could do something to a CD? Since it's a friend of Allen Chang, you could perhaps ask Allen to ask his friend.
