8V in a microsecond seems pretty quick. The transformer weighs in at 28 lbs as well.
Specs look good, the sound compared with some 3000 to 6000 dollar modern amplifiers is on par. Very very close to my MC2500 McIntosh. Surprisingly close. The Adcom GFA 555 is a dog compared to it in tightness of bass and fluidity of the mids and extream highs. I have 3 examples of the GFA555..so it is not a "bad one"
That is why I asked...has anyone heard one lately?...and to John Curl, what do you think?
I agree, some vintages such as the series II had a shouty midrange and recessed top end.
Primarily, I posted this here as per how the topography of the design compares to some of the more modern equipment.
Ya just have to hear one of 'em again!
