Re: Studio Monitors - Near Field choices

If you want to get in at around the bottom of your budget range ($500), I don't think that you can do better than the deal I lucked into: pair of Tannoy Reveals (passive) at $200/pr used, and a Hafler P3000 (150wpc/8ohms) at $300 used. New, you could probably find this rig for around $750 from a discount place. I share studio space with someone who owns the BlueSky System 1 and its only advantage is the bottom end provided by the sub. For a pure nearfield approach, I really believe that the Reveals/Hafler combo is the closest thing to an affordable standard for the project studio world. To get significant improvements over this system would cost real money.
