Re: Amateur Recording in Home

I'd seriously consider using HD recording with a computer system. I know the guys at Stereophile have been getting slammed for reviewing High res. sound cards, but when used properly, with decent software, they can sound easily better than CD, and can compete with Vinyl (not kill it, I said 'compete' with),IMHO.

Most cards have (as an option, or built in) digital I/Os, so if you want better sound, you can always use an external A/D & D/A. Heck, even some mike pre's have built in A/Ds that aren't to shabby.

Of course, having said that, I should mention that my Revox A-77 is sitting in my system, not getting much use these days (even for play back!)

Just my opinion- been using 24/96K HD for my home studio recordings for a while now, and love it!
