In general, distortion is the hardest thing to fix, since it involves the encodation of large numbers of odd-order harmonics mixed in with the signals due to waves being cut off, resulting in square and sawtooth transforms. None of that sounds good. If, however, the distortion is not continuous, and just peaks here and there, you can sometimes take phonemes from unaffected sections of the wave and paste them in and replace the distorted peaks. It's a lot of work, but if you can't re-record, then it's a possibility.
