Marantz CDR-630 - repair or replace?

Does anyone have an idea of the cost of replacing the laser on a CD recorder? My Marantz CDR-630 just died, and given that I can presumably buy a new equivalent for under $600, I'm trying to determine if it's worth fixing.
If not, any suggestions for a replacement are welcome. B&H sells an HHB unit which appears comparable, for under $519, but I know nothing about the company.
