I had XLR to RCA cables made for my Ashly FET 500 amps.
No problem either, my Parasound preamp drives the pizz out of them.I have to agree with Bill Fitzmaurice, pro amps are NOT inherently inferior to audiophile ones.
There are good, and bad examples of either.I would give my right you know what for a Crown Macro Reference.
I know several hard core audiophiles who dumped their "well reviewed" stereo amps for the big Crown.
Amplifier design is not exactly a black art.
DJK, an Inmate here who is well respected, feels that even an old BGW 750 series B with it's old output caps replaced, can rival most any modern apm out there.
Interestingly enough, Paul Klipsch once tested several audiophile and pro amps for a particular type of distortion.
The old BGW came out on top, in this test!
