having always been intrigued by these units, after reading the posts below, i decided to give one a try. $150 for the 482i(the unbalanced version) didnt seem too steep. i am using it w a home audio system, not a studio set up, although i'm using mackie studio monitors. although i've only had it for a few days, i must say, the bbe unit is really quite a performer. it's hard to describe it's effect. it adds definition to the low frequency while giving a 'sparkle' to the highs. is it accurate? who knows? as of now, i like what it does. switching it off into the bypass mode makes my system sound dull and flat by comparison. i only have the unit turned up about 1/4 of it's max. i think w this unit, less is better than more.
