Is a new HHB 830 better than the old 850?

69.216.250.190

I'm borrowing a friends '98 HHB 850 cd burner and am wondering if anyone has used both an old 850 and the new 830? I'm trying to decide if i should buy the used one or spend a bit more for a new unit. the only 2 diffs I can tell are that the A/D converter in the new 830 is 24 bit verus 1 bit in the '98...and the fact that Phillips bought HHB a few years back. All i will use it for is getting my vinyl collection to cd's, so the quality of the A/D converter is paramount.
