aluminium cooling plate/access panel on horn subs

Anybody have experience/an idea of much it helps with reducing long term power compression/increasing power handling?
I´m designing a sub horn for reinforcement (so long term high power is the name of the game) to use two 650wRMS drivers so chances are they´ll be getting a couple hundred watts of heat to dissipate from their rear chambers for several hours at a time.
I´ve experimented with providing external vents for the drivers rear vent in earlier subhorn designs, but it is fairly fussy to line up & seal effectively. More than once the plastic vent tubes providing the ventilation have melted too :(
Failing a cooling plate i might put two small holes in the rear chamber & fit a reed valve over one, so that the driver pumps air thru the rear chamber. So basically a leaky rear box..

cheers
Rob
