Re: Telefunken R-F-T M16, Mark II tube microphone?

Thanks, STUART!

BTW, I should have just done a bit more research on this new Telefunken M16 microphone.

The reason is simple, actually.
If you go to the Gearslutz site (Gearslutz.com), there is an ongoing discussion about how this very microphone is in reality little more than what the folks at Apex sell as their model 460. It appears that the Apex 460 and this Telefunken M16 are practically identical. Then, there is the aspect of accusing Telefunken's representatives of virtually misleading the public in their claim that the microphone is made domestically, though it is apparently true that some components are assembled State-side.

Put the entire works in a specially tailored housing, paint it a different color and "doll it up" with a Gotham cable, special (whop-de-do) Phillips tube and jack up the price by about $1200 and you arrive at what they offer to the public.

Or, just take a look at this:

and then draw your own conclusions!

I found the entire matter interesting but altogether not that surprising, given the way things are being made in China and then repackaged for the domestic consumer. Caveat Emptor!
