This is partially correct.RCA connectors carry a much lower line level signal than XLR (pro) line level. If you want to do it right, you need to find a "bump-up" box which converts the RCA to XLR signal.
To choose between the two, listen to both. But give the XLR-input speakers a fighting chance and feed them the same level.
