Not too tough. Only two kinds of noise I am aware of used for audio testing.
White noise is equal energy at every frequency. Not very usefull for audio work will take your head off if every played at high volume through a powerfull rig.
Pink noise is equal energy at every octave (this means that energy at each frequency falls off at an ever increasing rate, just like our ears work). Very usefull for setting up eq's, checking frequency response of speakers.
