Help w/Ultracurve...

Hi,
Im trying to do the Auto-Q. Ive read all the manual several times.
I get levels and hear pink noise, but when I push either "L-R" or "R" I immediatly get dumped back to "tools" Only if I press L, do I remain in the Auto-Q window. So I push "L" and wait for something to happen but nothing ever does. Just the noise signal and the RTA display dancing in concert. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, very much for any suggestions.
