Re: microphone due date

Seems to me that "CAL 10/17/01" is the date that it was last calibrated, manufactured, or at least checked to make sure it still met spec, and "DUE 10/17/02" is the date (1 year later) when it should be checked again. Quite what that proceedure involves for the mic in question I don't know.

IME it is wise to get all your gear checked/calibrated on a regular basis, as sometimes gear can be degrading slightly over time, and incremental small changes are often not immediately audible, even to someone who uses it everyday, has good ears and is familiar with the sonic character of the piece. It would be easy to spend lots of time chasing an elusive, but previously obtained sonic signature, due to equiptment that has drifted from it's known baseline due to a small fault or damage. Gross faults are usually immediately obvious and relatively easily fixed.
