I doubt your problem(s) are related, have anything to do w/your surge protector. Your Krell, as with any amp, has a power supply that, along with large capacitors, provide DC voltage to the 'amp' section. As long as there is sufficient amperage to supply these, it (volume level) is BASICALLY independent of voltage (within reason) which is what the surge supressor looks for.
More likely, your amp uses an 'electronic' VC that is getting spurious 'input' from somewhere, most likely from the amp itself. Is there any coororlation between how long the equip is on/these 'volume dips/spikes'? If you still have warranty, let your dealer 'deal' w/it but knowing the above will help him/her isolate the problem (thermal)
