You might want to consider shielded monitors from PSB, Paradigm, Axiom, even the Radio Shack RCA LX55 which you might find for $100 - $150 a pair.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I gotta believe that its worth going a little deeper in your pockets and coming up with the $299/pr for passive Tannoy Reveals; around $200/used. The REveals are well shielded for use in multi media systems AND they are good quality professional studio monitors. Be prepared, they can be brutally honest with your mix, but that is exactly what you want from studio monitors. But they are not at all fatiguing like many other nearfields. Give 'em a listen.
digital? I'm still not sure about transistors....
