Re: PLEASE HELP - Advice on TEAC x-7 reel to reel

Keegan

I bought an X7 new back in the late 70's, nice deck, I liked the industrial sparce look of it. From the owners manual: wow and flutter 0.03% at 7-1/2 ip; freq. res. + - 3 Db 40-20,000 Hz -10 VU; signal to noise ratio 63 Db; harmonic distortion 0.8% @ 1000 Hz; chanel seperation 50 Db @ 1000 hz. This was very rugged stuff compared to the throw away junk which is the norm today, and Teac supported older equiptment, but this may have changed. I had the best luck with service at the Teac service center (Chicago area). The pinch roller solonoids on mine locked up from sitting idle for several years, WD 40 helped, but still needs more attention. It sound like you had some trouble in this area. Good luck with yours!

Paul
