RE: Division of labor in PA system

I did take a look, and it's an impressive design but not really the best solution for this application. The portability issue goes back more to box size than weight; the band has muscle & a dolly, but no big car.

That tapped horn is still pretty big at 9 cubic feet external volume, and I'd need two of them to meet the SPL requirement but would still fall short of the -3 dB at 37 Hz requirement. Ironically a same-size ported box with the same woofer would meet my requirements, but I really need smaller boxes.

I have a suitable subwoofer design worked out, which meets the SPL and bass extension targets in four boxes of considerably less external volume than two of the tapped horns. What I didn't know was whether I needed two, three, or four such subs, and thanks to your earlier post now I know.
