You really should dig a bit into the thread I linked to!
Portability was the main reason for its inception. The end result weighs around 50lb, uses a $200 driver and one sheet of 8x4 ply. Looking at the measurements I find it hard to believe in the possibility of achieving more from a smaller, lighter or cheaper package of any other design.
