Run run channel of stereo amp?

Pro studio recording equipment and music production/industry.

I have never played around with pro audio gear before, and I am considering buying a pro amp to run a 4ohm sub I have.

Some pro amps can run 4ohm bridged, some cannot.

For those that cannot, is there any risk to running just one channel in an amp? Will it cause any damage?
