24/96 in and out from Alesis Masterlink

if i rip a 16/44 redbook disc to the masterlink hard drive, why does it seem like i cannot playback the HD copy in 24/96? furthermore, the cd24 i burned shows to be outputting at 44.1 as well on the display on my behringer deq2496? what gives?
