Jason, you don't say which tascam cd recorder you are using, some are balanced out and some are single ended.

If you are getting hum, make sure all the components are plugged into the same circuit in your home so you are not getting a loop going.

Also the XLR connections will put out a hotter signal than the single ended connections.

Parasound makes really nice stuff. I have an HCA-2200 Mk2 that is driven by my DAW. Very nice sounding amp. Also you can stay completely balanced if your gear will allow it, which should help with the noise.
