You could not pay me enough to use the KM83 or 84, unless you like brittle, strident sound. The newer 184 is much better.
In any case, cost is an issue for Deaf Ear. In the low/mid price ranges, you can't beat the quality of some of the AKG, Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser and Shure models (in alphabetical order).
Although top quality condensers provide the ultimate in audio nuances, that's not always needed nor desired. I frankly would suggest good dynamic or battery-operated condensers rather than phantom powered condensers for your application. Many have excellent sound quality and the cost and convenience is hard to ignor. Expect to pay at least $150 each for something decent, preferably more.
