Yes the prices are amazing on these things
Check out APEX

This might be way out of your ballpark but I have a friend that
uses one of these stereo condensors through a tube mic pre and through
optic cable to his laptop
He records jazz bands and acoustic stuff in Minniapolis live
They are as good a recordings as I have ever heard from any major label

I tell ya the mic is a HUGE part of the recording and this AKG is
an incredible stereo mic
