I don't like the idea of mixing input and output connector styles... too much chance of something going Horribly Wrong, or at least of frustration while you try to figure out why things are so quiet. There are Neutrik Speakon connectors that will fit the same chassis cutout as the female XLRs, so you shouldn't have to do any permanent damage.
