Squeezebox Touch

I have read a few things about the Logitech Squeezebox Touch.
I'm a new Audiophile type. I just got my separate units set up, now I want a good sounding way of listening to my external Hard drive MP3 files.
Is this a good approach for a newbie like myself?
It seems to have a built in DAC. So for about $300 I can have access to my files, sounds like a good way to get to my digital files without having to source through my computer. If you think there are better alternatives for a newbie like myself, who has already spent lots of money to get the speakers and amp/pre amp system in place, please let me know. my budget is now limited.
