SOUND CARD HELP!!!

I am the kind of person who has very bad luck. But I'll get to that in a moment. Here's the rundown: I have a Creative Inspire p7800 Surround sound system designed for use with a 7.1 Sound card (the system also has a 6.1 or 5.1 up-conversion switch). What I have been trying to accomplish is to find a 7.1 card with a digital input for my PS3 so that I can play the PS3 through the 7 speakers. Having not found any good deals I bought a cheap 5.1 rocketfish with Digital output that supposedly offered a pass through for multi-channel dvd; whatever the hell that means. I take it home and install it. Here comes the bad luck part: I need a lowprofile sound card because unbeknownst to me at the time, I have a "mini-tower" pc. SOOOOO.... I need to find a low profile, 7.1 channel, PCI (NOT xpress), with I believe a digital input..not output (I could be mistaken). I'd prefer something from creative but am willing to settle on something cheaper as I don't have a huge living room anyway. Any and all suggestions at this point are appreciated because even though I'm an electrician..this kind of thing confuses the crap out of me. Thank you, Ed/ Local 236 Albany, NY
