On the subject though...
Main question I have regarding your procedure, and the outcome of it - THEN WHAT?
What happened when you returned to your normal way of listening - at length, sighted, no friend in the room? Did you abruptly stop hearing differences you heard before the blind test? If so (which I highly doubt), I'd like to hear your explanation of this phenomenon.
If not, and you still hear the same differences sighted, that you were unable to hear during blind test - what was your test good for? Besides, as Ryelands pointed out, being good fun, and nice way to spend your free time?
One other thing. Assumption that it's always old vs. new, cheaper vs. more expensive etc. affecting judgement - that's just plain wrong. My last SIGHTED test was FIM Gold vs. Lessloss power cords on my amp - I own both cords for several years, they are close price-wise (actual money paid under $400). Lessloss was recently eliminated from the other place in the system, that's why I decided to try it on Plinius. It was pretty close, but I reliably preferred FIM in the end after several listening sessions. Once you identified the sonic differences between two, it becomes pretty easy.
Do I give a damn whether I could as reliably tell them apart under blind conditions? I'm sure you know the answer.
