"750 mA"? Try to think where you saw it as that would indicate a high power port which 'should' do the job.
USB power is well defined and since it's whole aim is to make things simple for the user and safe for the system these questions should not be arising. If it's only got a low power port they damn well should say so. I can patch in an ammeter and see what the drives I have draw, but I haven't bought the touch yet and want to know if I'm going to have to kludge in a power supply before making the decision.
