I checked the CEC and yes there seems a resemblance, though the AQVOX -MKII has a bigger (wider) chassis and weighs more too but I believe is not 'exactly' similar on the insides.

I heard a well broken-in Benchmark with another 2 audio buddies and we didnt like it at all. I understand that in direct terms the sonic differences might not be earth shattering as you said but we couldn't stand listening to it for more than half an hour. I'm not dissing the Benchmark but the AQVOX, IMHO and to my ears, is much superior in every sonic respect. YMMV as usual..:) No experience with the Lavry yet.

Jon, thanks for the info. I'll email AQVOX for more info on the major differences between theirs and the CEC's..:-)
