Really whacky. Compliments to you for sticking with it. It can be really frustrating when you are frantically switching things around and suddenly some combination of tweaks works but you can't remember which tweak finally did it.

From your description, by process of elimination, it has to be the USB C cable. You say that cable works for other things. Have you tried a different USB C to C cable? Or a pigtail adapter as suggested by Abe C.?

Anyway, glad to hear you got it up and running. Just in time for some Sat night listening.
