1 of 4 NAS disks failing after more than 6 years of 24/7

But the 4-bay NAS continues to run just fine and was smart enough to alert me of the pending failure. I have two new disks on order which should arrive via Amazon between 4AM and 7AM Saturday morning.

But instead of inserting a fresh new disk among the others that are 6 years old, I will pull two older disks out of my 2-bay NAS and use one of those in the 4-bay NAS. The two new disks will go into the 2-bay NAS and I'll have one spare.

I'll replace the drive Saturday and let the NAS rebuild the data on it.... which could take several hours. The other option is to start over by re-initializing all 4 disks then restoring the data onto them from the external backup USB SSD. The latter is probably faster but I'm curious to see how long a rebuild will take.
