RE: Auralic Aries Mini doesn't recognize the external HD

I'm not familiar with Auralic products, but there's plenty of info on their website. Apparently they use a proprietary OS called Lightning DS, which has a web-based UI.

Questions/suggestions:

1. Is your 10TB G-drive externally powered? If not, possibly the device is not delivering sufficient power. Try a powered hub or a smaller, bus-powered drive.

2. How long did you leave it connected? It might take a long time for the Lightning OS to initially scan and mount a 10TB drive. That is 8-10 year old technology. 10TB drives were not common at that time. Try leaving it alone for a few hours.

3. How is the G-drive formatted? Maybe try a different drive with lower capacity, formatted in FAT32, just to see if it works.

4. Are there any firmware or OS updates that need to be run?

5. Unlikely, but have you checked the cable? If the G-drive is USB-C, you are using a C to A converter, so maybe try a different one. Or try a different drive with USB Type B or Type A connection.

I hope this is helpful. It's always difficult to troubleshoot sight unseen. Maybe someone with direct Aurilic experience will weigh in.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
