Not what I base my software decisions on in the least. And I think this statement is highly inaccurate and an exaggeration:"on life support ancient open source"
The developers of PcP respond on a daily basis to requests from users. And I have been one of them and they have responded to my requests. Nothing lasts forever, and if the time comes where PcP needs to be re-written in something other than PERL, I have no doubt that will be done.
I tried a WIIM out and while it is a easy install, it does not have the features that I use on a daily basis. We are all free to select the O/S that we prefer. WIIM certainly has its place, but it just cannot do what I want to do.
If anyone has trouble with configuring PcP, I can understand that and I have offered to help whoever needs it. I've tried pretty much all the inexpensive streamers and other software, as I am not wedded to any of them. What I don't understand is the need to diss PcP for some individuals.
There are plenty of Banking, Insurance and other Financial Systems still utilizing Cobol. But I certainly don't select my Financial Institutions based on the Programming Languages, that their systems may be running on, either.
