RE: New ALLO Boss II Review

I think Allo has done an excellent job once more.

A HAT DAC showing that kind of extraordinary performance at $99 is pretty
amazing.

The device shows even better performance when using the Allo recommended grounding method.

Basically ASR confirms - regarding measurements - what's being presented over at Allo for weeks. Actually ASR did it by presenting a corrected measurement later on!

The device will probably perform even better when powered with a two-rail Shanti. But that'd requires a little DIY spirit.

I personally don't like

* the flimsy IO board - which also covers up RPI Wifi
* RPI CPU is also partially covered - a bit of a problem on the cooling part
* 192kHz/DSD64 limitation

Of course it'll be interesting to hear how the device sounds.
Since Allo works once more with a supercap on the board a nice
dynamic performance can be expected.

Overall I am quite positive. I am not that happy about the limitations. I expressed them also towards Allo on DIY-A a while ago.

Enjoy.
