Not knowing the layout of your house or cabling challenges, I would suggest going the easiest route.From a networking perspective it doesn't matter which devices you leave connected directly to the router or which devices get connected to the switch.
If your goal is to expand the number of devices in the basement, put the switch in the basement, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your Bluesound Node 2i and connect that cable to the switch.... along with the other devices you want to add. Done.... unless I missed something you're not telling us.
