Home Computer Audio Asylum

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

I know this does not help you, but. . .

. . . I use a third-party external blu-ray drive ("Buffalo" IIRC) to import CD's, and the tracks all import fine via iTunes without any special driver. I only mention this to indicate that you may not need to invest in an Apple-branded external drive.

What puzzles me is that you seem to be getting something (maybe just a meta information file?) via the process you use - just not the AIFF files you've apparently set iTunes to receive. Is this a problem that just started suddenly? Had you been able to import CD tracks with this drive previously?

When iTunes is off and you insert the CD in the drive, what happens? Do you eventually get an icon of the CD on your desktop? If so, that should have the files for the tracks on it. (You were asking about "manual override".)

Similarly, when iTunes is open and you insert the CD in the drive, what happens?
