If on PC, I keep going back to my Foobar 2000 install, which can do that and go well beyond. There is far more to the story but it boils down to a severely stripped down WinXP with the PC dedicated to music only. Handles all DSD, PCM and FLAC, etc. configs. The capabilities come across delightfully clears in planar systems. If you have stats, it may be worth the effort.
The same PC can also switch JRiver (not free) for audio only, which have improved their audio performance in recent times. Therefore, Pono player's free version for PC, if still available, may be a good option. It incorporates most of the audio features, look and feel of JRiver, borrowed by agreement.
There are other great options. I simply had to stop testing so much and put a stake on the ground.
