Too many people looked behind the curtain.
MQA was perceived by some as a money grab.
MQA may be an improvement, but the improvement was so incremental and subtle that the paying customer failed to see a compelling reason to demand MQA.
Too many industry puppets acting in lockstep and reading from the same script.
Then several prominent industry members publicly criticized the creators and proponents of MQA.
MQA has lost momentum and may collapse under its own inertia.
Just my opinion. Yours may differ.
