I recently ordered a thunderbolt 2 compatible docking station for my 2012 MacBook Pro for the DMI, USB and TB2 outputs on the docking station. However, the retailer sent me a USB C device and, after talking with them, they didn't know the difference.
Can anyone tell me if I can plug a Thunderbolt 3 into my Thunderbolt 2 slot in my Mac and get a thunderbolt 2 signal through it to pass onto the doc. I'vs searched around quite a bit and I can't be sure that any vendor knows what they are selling when it comes to TB, as I have seen several different connectors advertised as TB 2 and they don't appear to be.
Thanks
