RE: Has anybody tried MusicBee?

No, I haven't but perhaps the greater question has to do with continuing to use a server fed renderer vs moving to a direct computer connection. And your budget.

I used a Logitech Touch driven by LMS for years in a wired environment. Today, I use a Sonore microRendu unit still using LMS to access the content from the server.

I quite like it even if I get a suspicion of harshness or edge.

Though you'll find a range of opinions on this topic, this is why I prefer to use a tiny, optimized for audio playback only renderer in the system proper connected to a server located on a different floor of the house via a longish CAT7 ethernet cable. And take great pains to minimize EMI/RFI via all matter of AC isolation.
