I dunno! I haven't read all the details yet. Looking forward to giving it a try. I do know that the "Gain Cell" have been used in the past by PS Audio with good results. I have them in my PS Audio GCPH phono preamp. I'm sure they've made some gain range adjustments for the linestage (vs the phono).
I understand the concept of electronically adjusting the gain of the active stage(s) without the adjustment resistance being in the signal path (like traditional attenuation). I suspect it's a hybrid discrete & op-amp setup.
