One of the points is, we do not know that there's impedance continuity from point A to point B, and at these low freqs the designer is probably not over concerned with it. So sticking a BNC at an end-point in place of an RCA isn't going to magically make things sound better.
Constant impedance and termination become much more critical into hundreds of MHz, UHF, and microwaves..... not so much at 3 MHz. But yes, I understand about rise time.
