I've heard nothing but good things about the Ayre, even though I've not actually heard the product, so I figured they'd help you get it right.

I too bought my DAC (bel canto DAC 2.5) based on a home audition and comparing only with my CD player (Simaudio CD5.3), but like you, it's a CD player I know and love and had picked only after extensive comparisons with others in my system.

Also like you I mostly work from home and find myself wanting to listen to my new toy when I should be working!
